Additional Diabetes Information:
Diabetes is the common health problem found among the people around us. Diabetes is referred as diabetes mellitus, which describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond to insulin, or both in a proper manner.
The treatment depends on the type and severity of the diabetes. Diabetics are mainly of two types-Type1 and Type 2. Type 1 is treated with exercise, insulin and a diabetic diet. Firstly type 2 diabetes is treated with exercise, weight reduction and a diabetic diet. When these measures fail to control the elevated blood sugars, oral medications are used. Other injectable medications are considered only when the oral medications are still insufficient. In Type 1, the immune system mistakenly manufactures antibodies and inflammatory cells that are directed against and cause damage to patients' own body tissues. In persons with type 1 diabetes, the cells which are responsible for insulin production, are attacked by the misdirected immune system and also believed that the tendency to develop abnormal antibodies in type 1 diabetes is, genetically inherited.
The diabetis treatment and management strategy should be agreed between you and your health care team. The aim of diabetes treatment is to keep, within reason, blood glucose levels as near to normal as possible. Training in self management of diabetes forms an essential part of diabetes management. Treatment should be agreed on an individual basis and address medical, psychosocial and lifestyle issues. The diabetic Treatment requires a strict regimen that typically includes a carefully calculated diet, planned physical activity, multiple daily insulin injections and home blood glucose testing a number of times per day.
Treatment of Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes
Diabetes Type 1 treatment is a daily task. Lack of insulin production by the pancreas makes Type 1. In type 2, patients can still produce insulin. In this case, the pancreas produces larger than normal quantities of insulin. A major feature of type 2 diabetes is a lack of sensitivity to insulin by the cells of the body (especially fat and muscle cells). In addition to this the release of insulin by the pancreas may also be defective and suboptimal. The steady decline in beta cell production of insulin in type 2 that contributes to worsening glucose control. Type 2 occurs mostly in individuals over 30 years old and the incidence increases with age.
Treatment typically includes diet control, exercise, home blood glucose testing, and in some cases, oral medication and/or insulin. Approximately 40% of people with type 2 diabetes require insulin injections.
Laparoscopic Surgical Treatments are available for diabetics types. This is one of the advanced method for diabetics treatment. Ileal interposition surgery comes under this laparoscopic surgical treatments and helps to cure your diabetics problem. There are a number of advantages for this procedure. Some of the advantages are as follows:
The onset of diabetes is delayed by 120 days (tolerance of 40 days) through this surgery compared to other conventional surgeries.Does not cause any malabsorption.Reduce the intake of calories.Loss of ghrelin can be brought out by this surgery. The surgery also leads to lower plasma glucose excursions.
